The Trojans delivered a dominant performance Friday evening, cruising to a 42-0 shutout of Holy Cross in their first game at Tom Landry Stadium of the 2026 season. After winning the coin toss and electing to defer, the Trojan defense took the field to open the game and immediately established control at the line of scrimmage. TCA forced a three-and-out on the opening possession, while a strong effort from the special teams unit helped set up the Trojan offense with favorable field position. Two strong runs by Easton Franz and a screen pass to Kapp McKelvey moved the Trojans across midfield. TCA continued to march down the field before Franz capped the drive with a touchdown run at the 5:41 mark, giving the Trojans an early 7-0 lead. Holy Cross found some offensive rhythm late in the quarter, but the Trojan defense answered when a fumble at the TCA 34-yard line gave possession back to the Trojans.

TCA carried the momentum into the second quarter, driving deep into Knight territory. With 8:17 remaining in the half, Davis Crumrine extended the lead to 14-0 with a 28-yard touchdown scramble. The Trojans added another score just moments later. Drew Parrill's squib kick was recovered by Christian Swann at the Holy Cross 18-yard line, giving TCA favorable field position. Three plays later, Franz punched in his second touchdown of the night to put the Trojans ahead 21-0 with 6:56 remaining in the half. With time winding down in the second quarter, Crumrine connected with Ethan Perkins in the corner of the end zone to extend the Trojan advantage to 28-0 heading into halftime.

The dominance continued coming out of the locker room. Ben Brewer returned the opening kickoff to the Holy Cross 35-yard line, giving the Trojan offense favorable field position. TCA's ground game continued to find success, moving the Trojans inside the red zone. On the drive, Franz took a handoff from Bodie Strawn and raced to the 1-yard line. One play later, Franz completed his three-touchdown night with a score to put TCA ahead 35-0 with 9:16 remaining in the third quarter. The Trojan defense responded with another three-and-out, giving the offense possession with 7:37 left in the quarter. On the ensuing drive, Crumrine connected with Brewer for a 31-yard touchdown reception, extending the lead to 42-0.

The fourth quarter was the only period in which the Trojans did not find the endzone. With the running clock in effect, TCA was unable to establish the same offensive rhythm, and a fourth-down goal-line stop by the Knights kept the final score at 42-0.

Crumrine continued to showcase his versatility throughout the night, displaying accuracy through the air while also making plays with his legs. Franz led the Trojan ground attack and accounted for three touchdowns, while the TCA defense delivered a complete performance in the shutout victory, consistently limiting the Knights' ability to move the ball and keeping Holy Cross from establishing positive field position.

After the final whistle, it was clear that Friday night's competition represented more than just a game. Both teams met at midfield and shook hands before gathering for a word of encouragement and prayer led by TCA Executive Director of Athletics Beck Brydon. Brydon spoke highly of the Knights, sharing that coming into the game he knew Holy Cross would be the toughest team the Trojans would face all season because of their never-quit mentality. He then led both teams in a moment of prayer, bringing the two programs together after a hard-fought night of competition. Although the Knights will make the trip back to San Antonio, they leave as more than just competition. They leave as brothers in Christ—a reminder that, beyond the wins and losses, there is a greater purpose in the game. In the end, Friday night's victory belonged to both teams.

With the victory, the Trojans improve to 2-1 on the season and will enter a bye week before returning to Tom Landry Stadium on Sept. 18. TCA will open district play at 7 p.m. against Legacy Christian.
