Trojans Deliver Dominate Homecoming Win

The Trojan Football team picked up a dominant win on Homecoming night Friday at Tom Landry Stadium. With Trojan nation in full force, there was plenty to celebrate throughout the night. The Trojans controlled the game from the opening whistle, scoring in all three phases while holding the Vikings to just seven points.

The Trojans started the game on the defensive side of the ball and forced a three-and-out on the opening drive of the game. The TCA offense capitalized shortly after when a screen pass to Easton Franz resulted in a touchdown at the 9:21 mark to make the score 7-0. On the Vikings' next drive, the defense continued to apply pressure and forced a punt. Harlan Jimenez blocked the kick and recovered the ball at the Vikings' 18-yard line. Penalties backed the Trojan offense up, but Drew Parrill converted a 38-yard field goal to extend the lead to 10-0 with 5:41 to play in the quarter. Parrill again connected on a field goal with just six seconds remaining in the quarter to put TCA ahead 13-0 after one quarter of play.

On the opening drive of the second quarter, Jimenez applied pressure on third down, causing Nolan Catholic to punt. Davis Crumrine found Ben Brewer for a long reception to set up the offense at the Vikings' 25-yard line. The offense was stopped on the drive due to penalties, bringing Parrill out to punt the ball away. The Trojan defense remained resilient and continued to cause trouble for the Vikings' offense to get in a rhythm. With 4:38 remaining in the half, Franz ran the ball in for his second touchdown on the night to go up 20-0. The Trojan defense forced another three-and-out on the Vikings' next drive after pressure from Kayden Daniels and Jimenez. The Trojan offense marched down the field, and Crumrine connected with Ben Brewer in the corner of the endzone to make it 27-0 with 2:10 to play. The Vikings' lone touchdown of the game came after the two minute timeout when the quarterback escaped and found an open Vikings receiver on fourth and 15 for a touchdown with just 24 seconds left. The Trojans headed to the locker room with a 27-7 lead.

Out of halftime, the Trojan offense needed just 45 seconds to punch in another touchdown. Franz broke free for a 63-yard run, extending the lead 34-7. The defense created another short field moments later when Daniels pressured the Nolan Catholic quarterback into a fumble. On the following play, Crumrine connected with Brewer for another touchdown, giving TCA a 41-7 lead with 10:04 remaining in the quarter. The defense quickly turned to offense again when Freshman Christian Swann intercepted the Vikings' quarterback and returned the pick for a touchdown. The score made it 48-7 and triggered a running clock under TAPPS' 40-point rule.

With the game firmly in hand, the fourth quarter provided an opportunity for younger Trojans to make an impact. After the defense forced a turnover on downs at the TCA 23-yard line, quarterback Luke Presley handed the ball to Miller Ingram. The Sophomore broke through the defense and raced 65 yards for a touchdown, to make it 55-7.

The Trojans closed out the night with a 55-7 Homecoming victory, improving to 3-3 on the season.

TCA's performance was balanced across all three phases. Parrill finished the night perfect on field goals and extra points, while Crumrine led an explosive passing attack and Franz provided a spark on the ground. Defensively, Daniels and Jimenez consistently pressured the Nolan Catholic quarterback, while Swann added a defensive touchdown with his interception return.

The Trojans return to Tom Landry Stadium on Friday, Oct. 9, for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Prestonwood.
