Trojan Football closed out its 2026 home schedule at Tom Landry Stadium with a 35-7 victory over John Paul II on Friday night. Prior to kickoff, 13 Trojan seniors were recognized during Senior Night festivities.
The Trojans opened the game with possession and quickly found the end zone. Quarterback
Davis Crumrine connected with
MJ Smith for a 37-yard touchdown reception at the 11:15 mark, capping a drive highlighted by a series of strong runs from
Easton Franz to cross midfield. On the Cardinals' first offensive possession, the TCA defense forced a fumble, recovered by Smith and
Brandon Lankford at the John Paul II 45-yard line. One play later, Crumrine found
Ethan Perkins in stride for a touchdown, extending the Trojan lead to 14-0 with 8:22 remaining in the first quarter. With the Cardinals threatening in the red zone late in the quarter,
Mo Crum intercepted a deflected pass at the TCA 2-yard line to preserve the shutout. The Trojans carried a 14-0 lead into the second quarter.
TCA continued its offensive drive from the 19-yard line to open the second quarter. Crumrine connected with
Ben Brewer for a touchdown just one minute into the frame, and
Drew Parrill's extra point pushed the lead to 21-0. The Trojan defense continued to deliver, stopping the Cardinals on fourth down following a bad snap at their own 16-yard line. Brewer then returned the ball to the John Paul II 20-yard line, setting up a touchdown run by Franz to extend the lead to 28-0 with 7:34 remaining in the half. As the Cardinals looked to respond late in the second quarter, Crum came up with his second interception of the night to close out the half with TCA leading 28-0.
The Trojan defense opened the second half by forcing another turnover, giving TCA possession at the John Paul II 20-yard line. Both teams traded possessions throughout the third quarter, with neither offense able to find the end zone. Penalties continued to affect field position as the Trojans maintained their 28-0 advantage heading into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, Crum broke up a pass on third down to set up a fourth-and-three situation.
Hank Womble then made the tackle on the receiver to force a turnover on downs and return possession to the Trojans. Crumrine connected with Perkins for his second touchdown reception of the night as Perkins broke through a tackle on his way into the endzone. Parrill's extra point extended the lead to 35-0 with 8:28 remaining. The Cardinals scored their lone touchdown of the night on a receiving touchdown at the 5:21 mark. Neither team added to its total in the closing minutes, securing the 35-7 Trojan victory.
