The Trojans battled the Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD) Eagles Friday night at Jones Family Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The Trojans won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half, sending the defense out on the field first. The defense stood tall and forced the Eagles to punt. Davis Crumrine and the offense took the field and immediately marched down it. A long reception to Ethan Perkins set the Trojans up in the redzone. Easton Franz had a strong run to put the Trojans inside the ten yard line. The next play, Crumrine connected with MJ Smith in the endzone for a Trojan touchdown. The extra point by Drew Parrill was good, and the Trojans led 7-0 with 9:21 left in the first quarter. The Eagles quickly evened the score 7-7 on the next offensive drive. The score remained tied at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, both offenses struggled to get in rhythm. With two minutes left in the half, the Trojans broke the tie on a Drew Parrill field goal to go up 10-7. The lead lasted until four seconds were left in the first half when ESD scored a touchdown to put them ahead 10-14.

The Trojan offense took the field to open up the second half. However, the Eagles defense tested the offense and caused the Trojans trouble getting anything going. Defensively, the Trojans remained aggressive and held the Eagles on a big third down late in the quarter. The score remained 10-14 heading into the fourth quarter.

Less than two minutes into the final quarter, the Eagles marched down the field and extended their lead on a made field goal to go up 10-17. The Trojan offense struggled to find a similar rhythm. The offense was set up on a fourth and one at their own 37-yard line but failed to get the yardage and turned the ball over on downs. The Eagles capitalized off the turnover and went up 10-24 with 5:44 remaining. The Trojans had opportunities to narrow the deficit, but another turnover on downs with 4:44 left gave the ball back to the Eagles. At the 2:57 mark, the Trojan defense was facing a critical fourth down, and Christian Swann stopped the quarterback run to give the ball back to the Trojans late in the game. Set up at the 32-yard line, the offense failed to convert on fourth down and turned the ball over to the Eagles, resulting in the Trojans falling 10-24.

The team moves to 1-1 on the season heading into the home opener September 4 at 7 p.m. vs Holy Cross. The opening game at Tom Landry Stadium will be a major test for the Trojans in their final non-district matchup.
