THE RUNDOWN:
Trojan Golf is out in front after day one of the TAPPS District/Regional Tournament at the Buffalo Creek Golf Club in Heath, Texas. TCA (11-under par, 273) leads the field by 27 shots, and three Trojans currently rank in the tournament's top five.
It was a brilliant round of golf from TCA senior Nate Miller (7-under par, 64). The TCU commit finished the day with a white-hot scorecard, making birdie four times and eagle once for a back-nine total of 6-under par, 30.
Joining Miller at the top of the leaderboard are fellow seniors Sean Meador (3-under par, 68) and Carson Harris (2-under par, 69). Meader sits in a tie with Elijah Estonilo of John Paul II for second place after going 2-under par on the front nine of play. Harris holds outright possession of fourth place, overcoming a slow start with exceptional play on the back nine that was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 14th hole.
Beck Olinghouse sits just outside the top five (1-over par, 72), and freshman Bentley Long rounds out the top 25 for the Trojan lineup.
The second and final round of the TAPPS 6A District/Regional Tournament will take place Wednesday, April 23, at Buffalo Creek Golf Club. The round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
