THE RUNDOWN:
On Thursday, four Trojans signed on to continue their athletic careers at the next level during a special signing day ceremony in the TCA Performing Arts Center.
A pair of long-time Trojan teammates,
Matthew Cortez and
Jameson Dunigan, will begin the next chapter of their career together. The senior linebackers are both headed to Belton, Texas, to play football for the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (NCAA Divison III).
With 52 solo tackles and 97 combined,
Matthew Cortez spearheaded the Trojan defense during the 2024 campaign. Cortez's 10.0 tackles for loss were the most on the team -- tied with his new UMHB teammate,
Jameson Dunigan. Dunigan also enjoyed a strong senior season. The combo running back/linebacker showed tremendous resolve, bouncing back from injury to lead the team with 4.5 sacks.
Fellow football player
Soren Ouimette is taking his talents to Oklahoma. The Trojan tight end is set to join the Crimson Storm of SNU (NCAA Division II), becoming the fourth TCA football player to sign a college offer this 2024-25 academic year.
Ouimette served as an offensive spark plug for the Trojans all season long. The veteran Trojan amassed seven total touchdowns and a team-high 748 all-purpose yards.
Gaje Allen was the fourth Trojan to celebrate during Thursday's signing day. The first-year Trojan averaged more than 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting an effective 59% from the floor. Allen was named an All-District Honorable Mention last week for his efforts in leading the boys basketball program to its sixth consecutive winning season. He now heads to Illinois to play basketball for the Kougars of Kishwaukee College (NJCAA).
