THE RUNDOWN
In a must-win game to ensure a spot in the TAPPS Division I Playoffs, five Trojans found the end zone as TCA rolled over Nolan Catholic by a score of 51-10 last week in Fort Worth. TCA (3-7) outgained the Vikings (1-9) 450 yards to 139 to grab the No. 6 seed in the District 1 bracket.
Sophomore Davis Crumrine (10-17, 242 yards, 4 touchdowns) put together one of his best performances in a TCA unfirom. The second-year signal caller found receivers Chase Griffin (5 receptions, 104 yards, 2 touchdowns), MJ Smith, and Ben Brewer for a flurry of touchdown passes.
It was a defensive play that set the table for a big night from the offense. Jack Aboussie picked off a Viking pass attempt three minutes into the game, bringing the return all the way down to the Nolan one-yard line to put the Trojan offense back in business. From there, Ben Brewer was on the receiving end of a Crumrine push pass as the Trojans took the early 6-0 lead. Despite missing the PAT, Lowell Summey nailed a 44-yard field goal attempt that gave the Trojans the two-score lead that remained unchallenged the rest of the evening.
Later in the first, MJ Smith worked his way to the corner of the end zone while Crumine rolled to his left to make it a 16-0 ball game, before Chase Griffin knifed his way through the Vikings' secondary and the Trojans were off to the races following a 23-point opening quarter.
Once again, Campbell Laible successfully complemented the TCA passing attack. The fourth-year back rushed for two scores and added 65 yards through the air to ensure that Crumrine and Hunter Flatt (3-3, 111 yards, 1 touchdown) had a bevy of offensive options to choose from.
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- TCA extends its win streak over Nolan Catholic to four consecutive games—the program's longest win streak over an active district opponent.
- The Trojans finish the regular season with a winning record on the road (3-2) as all of TCA's wins came away from Tom Landry Stadium this season.
- TCA now prepares to match up with Antonion College Prep in the postseason for the second time in the last three years.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

4 – Crumrine's four-score game set a new career high.
2 – Campbell Laible recorded a multi-score game for the second time this year. Â
