This week, TAPPS announced that 10 members of the Trojan Baseball team have been named to all-district rosters. The announcement arrives following a 17-13-2 season in which the Trojans advanced to the regional round of the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.
Colin Hamilton, Sloan Nelson and Ryan Janacek headlined the lineup, each receiving a First Team All-District bid. Hamilton and Nelson proved to be critical members of the Trojan offense, as the senior duo combined for 62 hits and 42 runs scored. Janacek, a junior, earned a first team selection for his incredible contributions on the bump. TCA's ace finished the year with a 6-4 record, striking out 97 with an ERA of 2.297.
Caden Jobe, JoVahn Bernard, Bo Sykes and Beck Nelson also represented the Trojans on the all-district team, earning second team honors. Jobe, a sophomore, wrapped up the season ranking second on the team in hits (34) and first on the team in runs batted in (22).
Bernard and Nelson played over 30 of the Trojan's 34 games this year. Beck Nelson's .354 batting average in 91 plate appearances was the second-best mark among qualified hitters on the team, while JoVahn Bernard did damage on the base paths with the third-most stolen bases this year. Bo Sykes rounded out the All-District Second Team after a season in which he hit .327 in 28 games played.
TCA pitchers wrapped up Trojans selected for all-district teams, as Everett May, Brayden Rice and Brett Yanof were all dubbed All-District Honorable Mentions. May started 11 games in the rotation alongside teammate Ryan Janacek and finished the year with a strong ERA of 3.39. Relief pitchers Brett Yanof and Brayden Rice were crucial to TCA's success this year. Rice led the bullpen with three saves, while Yanof earned five wins in 13 appearances.
