THE RUNDOWN
On Wednesday, Trojan Cross Country traveled to Myers Park in McKinney to take part in the TAPPS 6A District Championships. In total, five Trojans medaled on the day, with several runners submitting career-best performances in the final race before state. As a team, the boys did not register a team score, as they did not have enough runners participate. The girls placed fourth in the district.
It was a career day for Hayden Dunn. The second-year Trojan placed 10th overall on the boys' side with a time of 19:13. Following closely behind Dunn was senior Avery Womble. Womble, in just his second race of the season, turned in a career-best performance with a time of 19:42. Sebastian Lee rounded out the Trojans who medaled with a time of 22.03.
For the Lady Trojans, Vanessa Dessommes continued her strong 2025 campaign with a top-15 finish, placing 13th overall with a time of 13:56. Jesse Lu joined Vanessa in the top 15 with a time of 14:03.
Congrats to the following Trojans who will make the trip to Waco for the Cross Country championships on October 27: Hayden Dunn, Avery Womble, Sebastian Lee, Jack Zugaro, Vanessa Dessommes, Jesse Lu, Audrey Herd, Lilly Low and Emily Radovic.
